Creative arts

Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.

Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.

Students enjoy weekly art lessons with  specialist Art Teacher, Linda Chalker.  Children from K-6 are guided through the world of visual arts by experiencing a range of mediums and forms. They learn a range of skills from chalk pastels to felting, weaving, print making and working in 3-dimensions.  Children are able to enjoy self expression and also learn in a fun way about who artists are and how they contribute to our society.

We offer weekly group lessons at a very reasonable rate with specialist guitar teacher Paul Nickerson.

Born and raised in Newcastle, Paul:

  • has been a professional musician for 25 years
  • has been running GTS Guitar Tuition as head tutor for 10 years
  • has taught in several Newcastle area High Schools as well as currently teaching here at Millers Forest PS and at Warners Bay PS
  • is in two bands Driver Eight and King Shakey.

Our guitar groups have lots of fun!
